Benzie is an accomplished and talented sommelier with a vast array of experience in the wine business. She honed her skills working at some of the nation’s finest restaurants, including Caneel Bay Resort on St. John, USVI, Michael’s Restaurant in Santa Monica, Café Boulud in Palm Beach, and CRU Restaurant on Nantucket. Her credentials are among the top in her field as Advanced Sommelier, Certified Wine Educator (CWE), and Diploma of Wine & Spirits (DWS). Her time on Nantucket began many years ago volunteering for the Nantucket Wine Festival, followed by a few years of seasonal work on island. As the owner of Épernay Wine & Spirits, Nantucket is her current home with husband Kirk Baker + store mascot Cooper.

With experience in restaurant management while living in Florida, Kirk made the move to work as a sales consultant for Transatlantic Wine & Spirits, the fine wine division of Southern Wine & Spirits. He then managed the fine wine division of Frederick Wildman & Sons, an importer of over 30 brands across the globe, in the Florida market. Here he learned the aspects of the distributor side of the wine business, as well as intricate details of the seasonal retail wine trade. Kirk brings with him to Nantucket a great passion and knowledge of wine and its business, along with a keen hospitality mind set and seasonal small business management experience. He is an avid Red Sox fans, listens to Phish + the Grateful Dead, and is a grill master.
