Think Outside Provence

Are you tired of all the buzz about pink wines?  With so many new rosé wines available these days, it is no wonder it can be confusing when shopping in the rosé aisle.  However, it doesn’t have to be that way for you.  I recently discovered these delicious pink wines that get me excited about drinking rosé, not just in the summer, but all year long. How do I find the perfect rosé? First, I always start by looking for one that offers a sense of place where it is grown.  Take Mary Taylor’s Silvain Miniot Rosé, one of the wines featured this month in our Cheers to Charities wine pack, and from the small appellation of Saint-Pourçain in Auvergne, France.  The winemaker harnesses the influences of the local ‘terroir’ to create a well-balanced rosé wine of 100% Gamay.  Imagine, enjoying a sip of this refreshing wine on your sun-filled porch with a piece of Charles Arnaud Comté cheese.  ...Read More >

Making Mom Happy | Mother’s Day Gift Guide

If Momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. Sadly, I lost my mother many years ago, much too young due to an accident. However, I still to this day try to do what would make her happy.  Inviting my mother-in-law to visit Nantucket next month, bringing an unexpected coffee from Roast’d to my neighbor and friend next door to the wine store, taking a dear friend’s dog for a walk in the Nantucket State Forest when she is unable to do so— all are just some of the things I have done. These people are all moms in my life, even if they have no blood relation to me, and, like me, they are moms to four-legged furry creature that love them more than their own kith and kin sometimes. How do we celebrate these people in our lives on Mother’s Day, and keep our status as the favorite “child?” Personally, I want bubbles. Nothing says, “celebrate Mom” more than a...Read More >

Summertime Solstice Sips

The past few months have been interesting, to say the least. To start, the weather in March was incredible here on Nantucket.  Then, April was the pits (including more than the just the weather).  May rolled around where we usually see an influx of people and we get the season started, however that didn’t quite transpire this year.  Fast forward to today, and summertime is so close you can taste it! And that is exactly what we are going to do right now, by enjoying a splash of summer in your glass. STYLISH SENSATION You’ve seen the magazines where you are asked who wore it best, then you are shown a poll of readers.  While some may say that beauty is only skin deep, it is hard to deny that what is inside the wine bottle can also seduce you to take another sip, enjoying its inner qualities of charm and grace.  The beauty of CHATEAU DE BERNE ULTIMATE PROVENCE...Read More >

Nantucket Wine Fest Revisited | #NWF2020

Having attended over 10+ years of Nantucket Wine Fest, we can tell you that whatever the weather forecast is for the weekend, THE PARTY CONTINUES, as it should do so now in our current situation! Let’s keep the #NWF2020 spirit alive this weekend, whether you are currently on island or celebrating with us somewhere else! Below is a selection of some of our wine friends that we will be missing this weekend, however cheers-ing them (and you) from afar. BRITISH FIZZ With a store name like Épernay, why on Earth would we ever talk about England Sparkling Wine?  Let’s think about the soil for starters, White Cliffs of Dover and the chalky soil of Champagne.  Winemakers use the grape varieties in both regions.  Lastly, they both have marginal climates where every year is not guaranteed to be a great vintage, hence being able to blend vintages together is helpful to keep the business in just that, business.
