Supporting our community ‘One Sip at a Time’ is the mission of Cheers to Charities, an initiative created by Épernay Wine & Spirits and begun in 2018. The concept was originally designed in that the first Thursday in-store tasting of every month was dedicated to a local non-profit on Nantucket Island in order to raise awareness for that organization and also fun-draise for their charitable cause. This initiative has hence evolved in that you can now support the causes of Cheers to Charities throughout the entire month that the non-profit is being featured, making your impact more significant and long-lasting. More on that later… For now, we would like to introduce you to our Cheers to Charities benefactor for this month, SUSTAINABLE NANTUCKET. The mission of Sustainable Nantucket is Cultivating, Educating, and Promoting environmentally responsible choices… making a big difference on a small island. Movies are always a great distraction from our own reality, no matter what your present-day situation may be. There are numerous movies where if wine and life revolving around it is not the central theme of the plot, it is part of the script at some point in the film. Tequila is also exciting in that there are several categories from which you can choose based on your tasting profile preference. More on those later, for now know that whatever style of tequila you choose to drink, be sure to look for a product that is labeled 100% Blue Agave in order to avoid any sugary fillers (that lead to that bad, awful tequila hangover). Advanced Sommelier Jenny Benzie, with the mixology and tasting skills of Certified Tasting Officer Kirk Baker, tease you below with top choices of tequilas that will begin your journey...Read More >
Like the credit card commercial that asks “What’s in your wallet?,” it is always interesting to know what is in someone else’s wine cellar. Will you find a rare, expensive Bordeaux that is being tucked away for a child’s 21st birthday? Is there plenty of pink on hand for that impromptu social gathering? What is the house white for easy-drinking, daily consumption? We recently asked the staff at Épernay Wine & Spirits to share their favorite fall selections and what wines they will be drinking over the next few weeks. Here is what they said… SUMMER SIPS CONTINUE When choosing a favorite wine for long-time Nantucket resident Josie, it was an easy choice to select Seresin Sauvignon Blanc from Malborough, New Zealand. Marlborough produces more than half of New Zealand’s total wine production. This area has been consistently acclaimed worldwide for its standard bearing Sauvignon Blanc. Josie is a native New Zealander who has now lived on Nantucket longer than...Read More >
