Supporting our community ‘One Sip at a Time’ is the mission of Cheers to Charities, an initiative created by Épernay Wine & Spirits and begun in 2018. The concept was originally designed in that the first Thursday in-store tasting of every month was dedicated to a local non-profit on Nantucket Island in order to raise awareness for that organization and also fun-draise for their charitable cause. This initiative has hence evolved in that you can now support the causes of Cheers to Charities throughout the entire month that the non-profit is being featured, making your impact more significant and long-lasting. More on that later… For now, we would like to introduce you to our Cheers to Charities benefactor for this month, SUSTAINABLE NANTUCKET. The mission of Sustainable Nantucket is Cultivating, Educating, and Promoting environmentally responsible choices… making a big difference on a small island. What better way to showcase their important impact on the island than with sustainable wine pairings!...Read More >
Being on the waters of Nantucket can be life changing. The warmth of the sun on your skin, the smell of the ocean in your system, the feel of the salt water pulsing through your veins. The same can be said about an epiphany wine drinking experience. You remember the place where you had that first sip, can visualize who you shared the bottle with, and will never forget the aroma and taste of the wine as you swirled it around in your mouth. The beauty of boats and wines are both oft celebrated based on their craftsmanship and the elevated experience they can exude. Advanced Sommelier Jenny Benzie offers a selection of sips to pair with your next sailing vessel as you lean into summer on Nantucket. WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY? Winemaker Kelley Fox has been quietly making wine in the Willamette Valley for over two decades. Having honed her skill not through textbooks or working in other regions,...Read More >
Summer on Nantucket is more than just going to one of the many beautiful, soft sandy beaches of the island. It’s actually being on the water and feeling the energy that Mother Ocean has to offer. Whether you are surfing the waves at Cisco Beach, swiftly paddle boarding in the calmer waters of the harbor, or enjoying a personally guided fishing charter off-shore, it is always a pleasure to reap the rewards of your ocean experience with some edible nourishment from the waters and the perfect libation to pair with it. Nantucket is now home to a handful of locally grown oyster farms. While these farms may be small in size, they are able to grow in distinctively different areas that show the diversity of our water culture’s influence. From Great Harbor Oysters, to RETSYO near the Wauwinet dock, you also have Pocomo Meadow and Fifth Bend in between. These tasty bivalves offer a certain salinity that is best matched with sparkling wine....Read More >
Winter is officially here and sometimes you need more than a warm blanket and a cozy fire to satisfy your soul. This is where a glass of really, REALLY good red wine comes in handy. Not just your ordinary, average, every day sipper, but one that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside and makes you stop to actually think about the wine because it’s just that delicious. Advanced Sommelier Jenny Benzie highlights what should be on your winter drinking list this winter and the benefits of keeping warm with each of them. TUSCAN TREASURE Winter may not be the best time to travel to the vineyards of Europe, but it is a great time to either reminisce about the trip you took to Italy last fall during truffle season (!) or plan an upcoming biking trek through the vineyards of Tuscany for the ultimate wine vacation next year. In the region of Montalcino, the name Brunello is synonymous with some...Read More >
