Nantucket Wine Fest Revisited | #NWF2020

Having attended over 10+ years of Nantucket Wine Fest, we can tell you that whatever the weather forecast is for the weekend, THE PARTY CONTINUES, as it should do so now in our current situation! Let’s keep the #NWF2020 spirit alive this weekend, whether you are currently on island or celebrating with us somewhere else! Below is a selection of some of our wine friends that we will be missing this weekend, however cheers-ing them (and you) from afar. BRITISH FIZZ With a store name like Épernay, why on Earth would we ever talk about England Sparkling Wine?  Let’s think about the soil for starters, White Cliffs of Dover and the chalky soil of Champagne.  Winemakers use the grape varieties in both regions.  Lastly, they both have marginal climates where every year is not guaranteed to be a great vintage, hence being able to blend vintages together is helpful to keep the business in just that, business. Sommelier Answered Questions

You love to entertain, and while you have that fabulous Martha Stewart flair for cooking and table décor, you would like some advice on what wine to serve with your fabulous Nantucket spread of fall bounty. From guesstimating quantities needed of beverages for cocktail parties, to the perfect pairing with your lobster bake on the beach, Advanced Sommelier Jenny Benzie offers answers to some of the most asked questions at her wine store on Nantucket.   THE CHILL ZONE You wouldn’t serve your Juice Bar ice cream warm, it just wouldn’t taste as good (and it would be a big mess!). A typical question, especially in the warmer months of summer, is What temperature should I serve my Champagne? Let’s start with bubbles (a personal favorite – do you know the name of our store?!).  Sparkling wine should...Read More >

Portable Rosé: Drinking Pink the Easy Way

This week marks the first days of Summer.  Rosé wine has become all the rage in the past few years – the bigger the bottle, the more exciting life can be! Advanced Sommelier Jenny Benzie of Épernay Wine & Spirits offers you a handful of rosé alternatives that are quick and easy to drink on the go for just a splash of Nantucket’s favorite sip of summer. RUZA ROSÉ IN A CAN 2016 (Lodi, California) RTD. Ready to Drink. This vintage dated rosé wine found in a can is a fresh, modern alternative to the popular Provençal rosés seen in Govino glasses everywhere on Nantucket beaches. The grapes that are harvested and used to make Ruza Rosé are ‘thoughtfully-farmed,’ meaning they are grown specifically for rosé wine production. These aren’t just grapes leftover from red wine production and not just a blend of red and white grapes together to get the perfect pink color. The grapes are picked early in...Read More >
