Welcome Aboard: Nautical Cocktails for Any Port

WELCOME ABOARD: NAUTICAL COCKTAILS FOR ANY PORT Nautically themed drinks in the Miami Vice era included brightly colored liqueurs in order to set the mood of being on a boat in trendy South Florida. Blue Curaçao resembled the vibrant blue color of the water. Brightly colored green Crème de Menthe was reminiscent for the color of the green markers on your port (left) side of the boat while leaving the channel to venture on your voyage. Not to mention that the right bottle of rum can also be a welcome addition to any beverage cart to make it look not just good, but sexy, sophisticated and sweet. Here is a quick rum run-down of not only good-looking bottles that would be aesthetically pleasing on any home bar and excellent quality rum for mixing, sipping or gift-gifting this summer season.  EL DORADO DEMERARA 3 YEAR WHITE RUM The word Demerara is well known in the rum connoisseurs world, but what exactly does this mean? Demerara is a county in Guyana with a rich history of rum production. While Guyana is...Read More >

Gift Giving “Outside The Bottle”

You’ve heard the phrase before, “Go Big or Go Home!” Yes, the person who walks into the party with a large size format of wine definitely gets the host’s attention, along with all the other guests, and for the right reasons. But what if you want to drink that bottle of wine you brought as well? When bringing wine as a hostess gift, you can never be sure if your ‘gift’ will be consumed that night or just tucked away into the wine cabinet with all the other bottles that have been brought for such occasions. Often times, your host will already have a theme in mind for the event and their beverage selections procured ahead of time in order to fall into suit. With all this in mind, you may decide to save that bottle of wine you want to sample for an evening when you are guaranteed to get a taste. But what can you bring as a...Read More >
