Supporting our community ‘One Sip at a Time’ is the mission of Cheers to Charities, an initiative created by Épernay Wine & Spirits and begun in 2018. The concept was originally designed in that the first Thursday in-store tasting of every month was dedicated to a local non-profit on Nantucket Island in order to raise awareness for that organization and also fun-draise for their charitable cause. This initiative has hence evolved in that you can now support the causes of Cheers to Charities throughout the entire month that the non-profit is being featured, making your impact more significant and long-lasting. Let’s be honest, social drinking these days is not the same as it used to be. You are either looking at your friends through a computer screen and acting like you are drinking together, trying not to drink the entire bottle of wine by yourself that you opened on what was previously considered a ‘school night,’ or yelling (cheers-ing?) at your neighbors across the yard while seated in your own lawn chair. Movies are always a great distraction from our own reality, no matter what your present-day situation may be. There are numerous movies where if wine and life revolving around it is not the central theme of the plot, it is part of the script at some point in the film. Most often, the person drinking the wine is rich, famous, has a large yacht and an even bigger estate – typically both with a wine cellar! Knowing what you are serving for your main course is only part of the battle in pairing a wine with your Easter meal. Other concerns may be what time of day are you eating, what do you usually like to drink, and how many drinkers are in the house.
